Dave Tosh äußert zu diesem Artikel einige kritische Gedanken:
"This portfolio system will allow programs or departments to customize the portfolio to meet specific needs" - never mind programs or departments customising the ePortfolio; what about the learners getting to customise their ePortfolio - is this less about the learner and more about the institution?
Then again - the conclusion suggests to me that they are completely missing the boat:
"As higher education institutions adapt to society's current and future needs and expectations, implementing robust ePortfolios will increase effectiveness and document our value to our students and communities. We must be proactive to show policy makers that we embrace our changing world and that we are committed to excellence, both for our students and our institution."

Hatten wir diese Debatte nicht schon mal, als sich alles noch um eLearning drehte? Ja, man kann man vermutlich auch mit ePortfolio, Weblogs und Social Software aus Studierenden "gläserne, zentral gesteuerte und kontrollierbare Objekte" machen
Eine optimale Infrastruktur alleine macht eben noch keinen erfolgreichen Lernprozess aus. Erst kürzlich hat das Sebastian Fiedler anschaulich auf seinem Blog dokumentiert:

Es macht eben eine großen Unterschied, ob man individuelles Lernen in den Vordergrund stellt und dabei Technik implementiert, um mit den Gegebenheiten der Informationsgesellschaft Schritt zu halten oder ob man formale Lernprozesse in eine technische Verkleidung steckt und alles so weiter läuft wie bisher...zentral gesteuert, formal, top-down..
